Video Killed the Written Content Star

Remember when written content on the internet was all the rage and videos were just rolling up their sleeves and getting warmed up?  It seems like just yesterday people primarily read their news online and that every single one of us didn't need to have a fancy computer that played fancy videos...

Well, my how things have changed...and fast...

Now most of these video sites like youtube or vimeo have awesome capabilities whereby one doesn't need to have a brand new Apple MacBook Air or a new, top-of-the-line PC laptop.

Video is now OFTENTIMES THE STORY OR ARTICLE...and if one does not either have video capability or want to watch the video, he/she is now out of luck because the VIDEO IS THE STORY.  Even on Yahoo's homepage, I've noticed over the past year...This change seems to have been adopted quickly and it seems to be here to stay.

A few stats...

According to emarketer.com, virtually 60% of respondents said they would watch video previous to reading text on the same webpage while 22% said they generally liked watching video more than browsing text for examining business information.

According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, 1 in 4 Americans now watches a video online everyday.  It's becoming a part of our DNA, and part of our daily habits.

Hence, this is why a business ought to seriously throw their hat in the ring with regards to producing a video for their business...

A few more stats....

A study produced by the Online Publishers Association stated that of the people who watched an online company video, roughly 22% of viewers visited the website related to the ad; 26% looked for more information; 15% visited the company; 12% purchased that specific product.

Also, according to an Ad-Ology study, in 2011 45% of small businesses are growing their budget for online video (up from 28% in 2010).

Remember, business owners and business strategists, this technology age can be USED and LEVERAGED to your benefit; or you can stay behind and not take advantage of the greatest invention the modern world has ever seen: the internet.

And video on the internet is NOW and for the foreseeable future ALL THE RAGE.
